Preparative thin-layer and column chromatography of prostaglandins

Niels H. Andersen

Converse Laboratory, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02138

Analytical and preparative chromatographic methods for monounsaturated prostaglandins are described. The systems were developed specifically for separation of the various hydroxy epimers of prostaglandin E1 and F1 but also offer superior separations for some of the known natural prostaglandins.

Supplementary key words visualization methods • oxygenated fatty acids • stereochemical designations • diastereomers
