The presence of glycerokinase in homogenates of mammary tissue from lactating guinea pigs is demonstrated. It has been shown that
-glycerophosphate-C14 (chromatographically identified) is formed from glycerol-1,3-C14 in the presence of homogenate. This reaction requires ATP and Mg++. Glycerol-C14 is incorporated into the glycerol moiety of glycerides via
-glycerophosphate. Glucose-C14 can also serve as a source of glyceride glycerol.
