Glycerides are shown to be synthesized by two pathways in mammary tissue of lactating guinea pigs. One pathway involves the direct acylation of monoglycerides. The other pathway proceeds from the acylation of
-glycerophosphate through l-
-phosphatidic acids and d-
,ßbeta;-diglycerides. Ethanol is also esterified by homogenates of lactating mammary gland.
