Journal of Lipid Research implements on-line submission
We are pleased to announce that, starting January 2002, the Journal of Lipid Research (JLR) will begin accepting submission of new manuscripts on-line. Authors are encouraged to use on-line submission, since this will accelerate the publication process. New manuscripts may be submitted as PDF files. To submit a manuscript and/or see the details of the requirements for electronic submission, visit the JLR submission web site http://www.jlr.org/submit.
The JLR has already implemented electronic review of submitted manuscripts. Electronic submission and review of manuscripts will reduce the time from submission to acceptance. From March 2002, we are planning to post accepted papers as "Papers-In-Press" (PIPs) on-line, within a short time after acceptance. Once on-line, the PIPs can be cited immediately as published papers. It is important for authors to carefully edit their manuscripts before submission, because, once accepted, the submitted PDF file will be posted on-line as a PIP, without further copyediting or typesetting.
The JLR has on-line access (http://www.jlr.org) to full text papers published from 1998 to the present. We are planning to extend this access to the full text of older papers. We will keep the readership posted as to the progress of on-line availability of papers published before 1998.
We are happy to report that the first series of our thematic reviews has been very successful and well received. The current series, which began in December 2001, coordinated and edited by Roger Davis and Peter Edwards, is on Regulation of Sterol/Lipid Metabolism and Transport. Following this series, there will be a third thematic series on lipases that will be coordinated and edited by Ira Goldberg.
As always, we look forward to your comments and suggestions.
