About the Cover
COVER: Model for the cellular ABCA1 lipid secretory pathway. Intracellular pools of phospholipids and cholesterol are translocated to the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane by an active transport pathway that is stimulated by the interaction of apolipoproteins with ABCA1 or another partner protein. ABCA1, which sits like a cup in the membrane, pumps these lipids through a pore in its side into the aqueous chamber, where they are removed by apolipoproteins to form nascent HDL particles.
