About the Cover

COVER: Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is synthesized by parenchymal cells, like muscle, but is thought to function primarily on the surface of endothelial cells (left). There it converts chylomicrons (CM) and VLDL to smaller remnant particles (rem.). Additional LPL is found within the subendothelial space and on the surface of LPL-expressing cells. It is possible that remnants also interact with this LPL (right). This could increase lipolysis or promote whole particle uptake.. (See Merkel, Eckel, and Goldberg, p.1997.)
