COVER: Phosphatidylserine (PtdSer) transport between the endoplasmic reticulum and PtdSer decarboxylase 2 (Psd2p) in the Golgi requires the presence of a C2 domain on the enzyme. In addition, a membrane-bound phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) transfer protein, PstB2p, is also required on the acceptor membrane. Genetic evidence also indicates a requirement for PtdIns4P and perhaps other phosphoinositides. The current data support a model involving both lipids and proteins in the formation of a docking and transport complex between membranes for effecting PtdSer transport. (See Voelker p.441.)
