About the Cover
COVER:
Macrophage infiltration and inflammatory activation in white adipose tissue is
implicated in the development of obesity complications, including insulin resistance.
Dramatically elevated rates of adipocyte death in obese mice and humans and the
selective localization of activated macrophages to these sites are demonstrated.
At these sites, macrophages form syncytial crown-like structures and multinucleated
giant cells that scavenge and sequester "free" adipocyte lipid.
