About the Cover

Cover Figure

COVER: Small-angle X-ray scattering confirms the previous prediction from X-ray crystallography that apoE•dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine are not discoidal particles, as generally believed. Small angle X-ray scattering data demonstrates that these particles are ellipsoidal with a twisted phospholipid bilayer. In the edge-on view of the model, the NH2-terminal and COOH-terminal domains in the apoE molecular envelope are indicated by blue and green, respectively. Yellow highlights the LDL receptor binding site. The phospholipid surface is shown in tan. (See Peters-Libeu et al., p. 1035.)
