COVER: Apolipoprotein A-V (apoA-V) is expressed in the liver and is associated with plasma VLDL and HDL. Its function is not fully understood, but a deficiency of apoA-V is associated with elevated plasma triglyceride. Hepatoma cells transfected with human apoB and apoA-V-GFP were used to determine whether apoA-V traffics with apoB and thus may exert a regulatory function. Top: dual fluorescent labels (green for apoA-V-GFP and red for apoB) indicate that apoA-V does not co-localize with apoB. Bottom: apoA-V-GFP and Nile Red stained neutral lipids show that apoA-V has a unique association with intracellular lipid droplets, suggesting a role in storage and/or mobilization of intracellular lipids.
