COVER: Clearance of LDL is highly regulated via the LDL receptor pathway. Apolipoprotein E clears atherogenic lipoproteins via the alternate receptors. Several copies of 28 residue apoE mimetic peptide consisting of 141-150 apoE receptor binding domain covalently linked to the lipid associating peptide 18A (hE18A) bind to all of the atherogenic lipoproteins and clear them from circulation rapidly via the heparan sulfate proteoglycans.
